Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Santiago

ceramic

I have been teaching art for 6 years at McKinley Elementary. My lessons incorporate art theory, cross-curriculum, cultural diversity and literacy. Students at McKinley are regularly exposed to rich hands-on art experiences as well as genuine Fine Arts events such as Being-There Experiences (field trips) to art openings, museums, art shows and concert events.  I consider myself a resourceful teacher, putting to artistic use bits and pieces of what many might consider "trash". I am constantly on the look-out for grant opportunities through local businesses, museums and online tools in order to make our students Visual Arts art foundation a strong one. In addition, our classroom is fortunate to include technology such as a Smartboard, a kiln, two potters wheels, a printing press and an Elmo, all of which I use on a regular basis. McKinley art students will undoubtedly find an environment of creativity where individuality is encouraged and
mutual respect is a must.
